Love Gentle Care! They have taken care of several of our pets, both dogs and cats. The love they show their patients is genuine and the staff are all very responsive, kind and patient to nervous pet parents.
Our dog had to be rushed in due to a mass in his GI tract. They put us right in the schedule and took care of him. The mass ended up being cancerous and they were very empathetic with us. Every staff member I encountered was super nice and helpful. I would recommend to anyone needing to take a pet in for care!

I have taken my pets to Gentle Care since moving to Lawrence 16 years ago. They have always provided skillful and caring service - the best I've encountered as a pet owner. Two of my cats had chronic health problems that required regular visits over a year or more. Gentle Care staff went out of their way to make my cats comfortable. When I lost them, the staff was exceptionally kind and supportive. I highly recommend Gentle Care and have complete confidence in them.
The staff & doctor were so attentive and kept me informed the whole time about my cat's condition and how his surgery went. Our cat came home and recovered very well. Gentle Care really cares about pets.
I have 2 cats and 2 dogs who were seen this week. They were well taken care of. Gentle Care always does a phenomenal job. We've been with them for 7 years.

We've been taking our dogs to Gentle Care for more than 20 years, so I can attest to the quality of their care for pets across the lifespan. They were wonderful with our puppies, and they have been kind and gentle with our dogs as they age and pass away. I appreciate that they are willing to try alternative treatments and truly care about the long-term effects of what they prescribe for your pets. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
The Doctors and entire staff at Gentle Care are amazing! They always take great care of both my dogs, one who is a diabetic, but especially recently when we had an emergency. Not only are they knowledgeable and professional but they treat my dogs like they’re part of the family and that means the world to me. Love Gentle Care and I could not recommend them enough!
We just recently moved to Lawrence and today my dog ate a grape!! I called several places and they were not able to see my dog because he was not a current patient at their clinic. I decided to make one final call before driving to KC to an emergency hospital and thank goodness I did. Gentle Care was so wonderful to me and my dog.
They got us right in and where able to help my dog out quickly. I was very impressed with the whole team and the vet was so caring and spent time explaining in detail what they did. I highly recommend and have now found my dog his new vet!
Docs and staff are great at Gentle Care Animal Hospital in Lawrence! My cats have been clients for years. They're the kind of office that knows you and your pet's by name when you call or stop in :). Communication with the office is easy and always prompt, even during after-hours with vets on-call. Pet end-of-life decisions are so difficult and the folks at Gentle Care are very compassionate and understanding. They made those rough transitions so much better.
I started going to Gentle Care over 10yrs ago when I had ferrets. When I moved back to town, I continued taking my dog and cats there. They were awesome back then and are still awesome today. Everyone there is very nice and are very easy to work with. Highly recommended! 👍
I truly appreciate the care given by Gentle Care Animal Hospital to my pet rabbit, Blue. It is difficult to find a vet that will treat small animals, and I feel blessed that Dr. Ermeling was gracious enough to take on my beloved rabbit. She was very informative, kind and yet realistic about expectations for successful treatment. The staff were very responsive, professional and helpful. My daughter also takes her ball python to Gentle Care for veterinary care. We highly recommend this practice.
We see both Dr.Beck and Dr.Ermeling. They are both absolutely special people, and the things I appreciate about them as vets are very similar.
They have good prices on routine vet care, even for avian patients. They will explain absolutely everything to you, and not treat you like an idiot (this is huge!!)
They will always have options for you, and let you be in control of what happens next. They won't pressure you into unnecessary tests or treatments, even when you might be the worried, paranoid one who wants everything done under the sun. 😅
They truly put your animal first, while recognizing the human financial element. I really have been so pleased with them both, and hope we never have to change vets for whatever reason!
I was met with kindness, and empathy at Gentle Care, after having to have my fur baby put down. Courtney, and Dr. Ermeling were incredibly comforting and I knew my fur baby was in good hands when he crossed the rainbow bridge.

I've taken 3 of my animals to Gentle Care now and I can't recommend them enough. They're understanding about getting cats to their appointments on time (or in my cat's case, not on time because chasing cats around the house is the a time consuming act), and when my bird passed away, they gave me a sweet card and an imprint of both her feet and her little wing. They are such kind and caring vets and I'm lucky to have them taking care of my animals.
Gentle care is a great place to take your pets! They know my Trixie on a first name basis now and always treat her well. Highly recommend.
The whole staff is extremely competent and have gone out of their way to provide exceptional treatment to my pets for over 10 yrs. I had a bull mastiff that was given a better quality of life due to services that aren’t normally available at other vets (acupuncture and EMS). Their customer service is off the charts! They made me feel like family.
